Feel The Burn

Mmm Cinnimon Rolls Sound Good... |
Took a day off from posting and relaxed with the boyfriend. We watched bad Science Fiction Netflix and ate way to much junkfood and coffee, all of which culminated in sugar and caffeine induces sexy time with food crumbs and poorly done sci-fi laser effects in the background. It was divine. This got me to thinking about what to post today, for the first post about actual Conjure. I decided to write about the use of spice, both the burning and pleasant variety. Now keep in mind this is how I do things, like I was taught way back when. I may add in little snippets about how things are done in other places, or use some "generally this is done this way" phrases. But for the majority of this and future posts the information presented will be in the more rural small town country style I know, and the work varies by leaps and bounds from town to town and state to state.
***This will be a good example of the kinds of posts you will be seeing here. There will be long ones such as this, as well as smaller ones with simpler information. Blessings.

Most of the hot things I use are fairly common and if are not already in your kitchen cabinets or pantry, can be easily accuired from any grocery store worth its salt. They are mostly kitchen spices I use in cooking that serve a dual purpose for both Conjure and making fabulous dinners in my micro kitchen. A little quick tip; most ground spices can also be found in abundance at dollar stores all over the country. We have places called Dollar Trees here in Georgia. They are amazing, and some are huge. If you don't have a Dollar Tree, I weep for you, but any old store will be ALMOST as good. Don't be afraid to venture out of the Spices and teas either, there are some amazing things in the bigger grocery store chains that can be used in Conjure so wander freely! (Future Topic Alert)
Now let me list some of the common things I was taught to use. All of these can be used in all kinds of workings. Powders, Jars, Oils, Dollies; you name it you can use these in it. Disclaimer for those not accustomed to the way folk magic and Conjure work: A good few of these are used in the more negative workings like curses and hot footings (Sending someone out of your life) etc. With the small percentage exception of Wicca and its brances, as well as a few other neo pagan paths, the vast majority of folk magics from all over the world allow for these types of spells if they are needed, usualy reserved for extreme cercumstances. Folk magic is a tool of the common people and of oppressed people, who often were looked down upon by the those in power points in history these spells were all they had to get justice in times where the law often forgot them. I'm no sweet worker so I do perform these kinds of works if they are justified and will be sharing some I feel are appropriate on the blog at a later date. Oh and if this makes you want spicy food don't get too hungry reading, I'm going to post recipes in future blogs so save the drool for those. Ok, now that iv rambled on for about 1000 words heres a simple list of things and their uses, along with examples.
Cinnamon- Cinnamon is an incredibly versatile item found in most kitchens that can be used for any number of things. In powder form it can be used in floor sweeps, candle work and powders of various uses, ranging from love to protection as well as money. In whole stick form, it can be placed in mojo bags, brewed as tea to rink or as a wash for floors or walls. If your in a hurry you can use it as a talisman just on its own. It is used in love workings to spice up a relationship, add some kick in the bedroom, and rekindle the fire that may have been lost. It is an ingredient in all of my money workings, oils, and powders. I was taught this all stems from the fact that although hot and spicy, its a pleasant kind of spice, not the hard and jarring kind of hot associated with red peeper etc. Iv also added it to some separation/hot foot type work to that I needed to be more gentle and that worked well for me.
Black Pepper- Unlike cinnamon black pepper is geared more toward those darker workings I mentioned earlier. Its ground spice form is used in powders, candle work and sweeps for hexing, or hot footing. its whole form can be added to oils and brewed as washes for the same effects. I was taught in particular that the negative effects of this are less harsh than the harder spices, and is used for the workings were punishment is deserved, but not requiring full on hardcore cursing. Along with the other cursing peppers here it is also used as protection. it is fairly common that items used as hexes can be used to protect. for example, I use whole pepper in my Run Devil workings and protection powders
Hot Peppers- This is the whole peppers, the vegetable of whichever type you feel is appropriate for the work. This ones fun, and as far as I know and use, is for hexing. add it to waters, jar works, candle spells to inflict justified harm. Use the pepper itself as the candle holder, or my personal favorite; using the pepper as a container and stuffing the petition paper (Prayer and/or intent, symbols, seals etc) in side it and working it that way. Then you can bury them, put them in the aforementioned jars, set them out to rot, your imagination is free to choose. Hard work be careful, not to be done lightly. They can be used to incite violence and anger, in relationships or in general. I personaly do not use them in any work that involves positive love, as I was taught this could lead to physical abuse or emotional abuse, and caution against it.
Red Pepper Flakes/Powder- Red pepper in its varied forms are a prime example of something that can be used to gravely harm, send away, as well as offer strong protection. Curses sent with Red Pepper are used to hex or curse; more specific uses are to inflict pain, anger, violence, and all around burn or harm the target physically, mentally, or spiritually. It is also an ingredient in some of the most powerful protection works that I know. Red pepper is a staple ingredient in the formulas for Fiery Wall products and workings. These oils, powders and spells are used with passages of the bible, to set up a subjective sort of protection. Not only does it offer protection, but if anyone tries to harm who is using it, it also burns and harms them, providing an incentive for your enemies to leave you be. If not using Fiery Wall, red pepper can be used to any protection work, and adds a particular bite to them that can be incredibly useful in dire situations.
Mustard Seed- While not technically ''hot", mustard seed has a distinct uncomfortable and strong smell and flavor, so I am including it in this list. The way I was taught to use mustard seed, black in particular but use what was on hand as my teachers did if need be, was for confusion workings and to cause mental instability or total destruction. It is used in oils and powders of confusion, and negative works where causing mental anguish is called for. On the other side of things, they can be used as protection or establishing wards against enemies. Use them in workings to hide yourself from them by inflicting confusion on their minds, to hinder their attempts at attack. If you don't have any dangerous enemies they ca be used in more mundane ways such as problems with co workers, or negative influential in-laws.
Chewing John- This ones a bit different than the others. while not hot, it is a ginger tasting kind of plant, so I'm including it here. it is used in court cases, and legal workings. dried it can be added to oils, powders, or whatever working your doing. it can be carried in Mojo bags for court victory. or if your not going to court, it also works if you need to overcome authority in general, whether it be legal authorities or other. Cute story about this. When I started reading and researching Conjure I kept coming across this, and not knowing what it was. I would see the name and that it was so common a thing to use and could not remember ever hearing it. Turns out I did know what it was, just by a different name. The only person I ever knew that did legal work, an old Black man from church, called it Law Pepper. to this day iv never heard it called that anywhere. its one of those little things you hear from elders and take for granted. I still call it Law Pepper, its a fun name.
Cloves- Cloves are included here as I feel they are spicy, pleasantly so. Cloves like cinnamon are used for a number of things, ranging the spectrum of positive workings and formulas. Cloves can be used in love workings to repair them if broken, and also in non romantic partnerships to further them and keep them strong, I add it to my reconciliation workings for example. It is also a common item in money and luck workings, bringing prospect of money or good luck to your endeavors. I was also taught to use it if someone is slandering your name. I do not know why it is used this way, neither did the nice lady who told me about it, but iv seen it used this way in sources as well so I know I'm not crazy. If any Readers know why please share. I do not know any uses for clove in the negative sense as curses or hexes either, so do please comment below or message the blog and share with us.
Cumin- Cumin has a lovely spice to it, so as with mustard seeds I am including it in this list. I am aware of other uses for Cumin which I will mention later, but the main use I was taught was for fidelity. I add it to any working/formulas where the aspect of fidelity is called for. While fidelity with relation to love and marriage is what comes to mind, it can be used in works where non romantic relationships need some help as well. I will admit this is not an herb I use often. For fidelity I tend to use exclusively magnolia, a favorite of my grandmother. We had a huge tree in our yard and she was always plucking the leaves and flowers and storing them in her "Stay Outa That" cabinet in the kitchen. I know it is also used for protection, particularly from evil entities, spirits, and magic. I however don't use it this way often either as I have other things I use that seem to be more affective, but it is a common recorded use.
Gunpowder- Gunpowder is somewhat of an interesting item and explodes...so hot. I don't see it mentioned online or in books often, but I know it was and is used in conjure of the more old school variety. Gunpowder as I know it is used for two thing; a general way to strengthen spells, and protection. Add it to workings to up the power, explode it in to the universe. Starr Casas is one of the only workers iv read that does this and teaches it to her students, its one of those small things that is being lost as the older generations pass. For protection it is a great thing to use. I have a big bag I keep on hand. I add it to everything. if you need strong protection, or need something to work quick, throw a pinch of gunpowder in there. You can use it for darker works. I don't tend to often unless its for the power strengthening, but what better way to curse than to use something that blows up and is used in guns. catch my drift. CAUTION: keep away from fire! if adding to candle work, just use a small. SMALL pinch. End PSA.
I hope this post was informative to you all. if you know this work I'm sure you will get something out if it. If any readers have any questions or things to add, please comment. if the question is in depth you can message the blog and I will do my best to get to you ASAP.

So are these all the herbs that you use the most? Or are they but a few?
ReplyDeleteThese are what I use. The people who taught me were simple folk an didn't have all of money or access to fancy herbs and such. I have a few herbs I use for each condition and I might branch out if I feel called to.
ReplyDelete:) did you read my other comment on the second post?
